Mahindra Electric will be using SmartE’s network to boost sales of the recently launched electric three-wheeler, Mahindra Treo and Treo Yaari
Mahindra Electric has partnered with SmartE, a Delhi-based firm that deals in shared electric mobility services, to deploy around 10,000 electric three-wheelers in India by 2020. The company has plans to deploy 1,000 Mahindra Treo and Treo Yaari electric three-wheelers in Delhi-NCR alone by March for the last-mile connectivity.
Electric mobility with SmartE’s network
The company will be using SmartE’s network to expand its EV sales. Mahindra has already given around 50 Treo range of electric three-wheelers to SmartE to start with. The latter also has planned to sell the vehicles ranging from Rs. 1.36 lakh in Delhi-NCR initially.
SmartE has set up a charging facility that can charge up to 800 vehicles simultaneously and has plans to provide support to 200 more vehicles. Goldie Srivastava, Co-Founder and CEO, SmartE, said that the company would reach to around 2,000 EVs by March 2019 and later would support 2 lakh commuters daily.
The Delhi-based company had recently partnered with Sun Mobility to provide interoperable smart mobility solution for two-and-three wheelers, in which swapping of batteries can be done at a low cost.
Mahindra Treo
Mahindra Electric recently launched its first lithium-ion three-wheeler electric rickshaw, Mahindra Treo and Treo Yaari. Treo provides real-time battery data on its digital dashboard. The vehicles offer advanced electric last-mile mobility solutions that are aimed at metros.
“India is witnessing rapid urbanisation and metros are driving the multi-modal mobility needs of the large working population in urban cities. Our Treo range of three-wheelers will address the demand for first and last mile connectivity and transform the way urban India travels,” said Mahesh Babu, Chief Executive Officer, Mahindra Electric.
