Lumax Industries aims to increase its manufacturing capabilities in Western India due to robust order volumes.
Lumax Industries, a provider of automotive lighting solutions, has announced the initiation of commercial operations at its new production site situated near Chakan in Pune, as per the details shared in a regulatory filing.
Lumax Industries was preparing to boost its production footprint in Western India, spurred by a solid stream of orders from major Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) such as Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra, among others. Prior to this development, the company had enhanced its production capacity at its Sanand facility.
The strategic move to expand comes as Lumax Industries closely monitors the evolving landscape of the electric vehicle (EV) market in Western India, anticipating a surge in demand as numerous OEMs are focusing on the transition to e-mobility solutions.
Deepak Jain, the Chairman and Managing Director of Lumax Industries, shared insights into the company’s strategic initiatives. He mentioned that Lumax is actively engaged in optimizing its current capacities and reallocating underutilized resources across different regions. This careful evaluation will inform the company’s decision on whether to undertake a greenfield expansion in the foreseeable future.
