The 59th Annual Technical Convention of IETE saw Lt Gen Chandele being installed as new President IETE by Sh A S Kiran Kumar, Chairman ISRO, the Chief guest of the Inaugural Function
Country’s premier professional body of engineers, Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) conducted its 59 th Annual Technical Convention on the theme “Make in India: Product Design & IPR in ICTs” on 24-25 September this year at its Hqs situated at Lodhi Road, New Delhi.
The Inaugural session of the program on 24 th Sep 16 comprised of Conferment of Honorary Fellowships on Shri A S Kiran Kumar, Secretary, Department of Space, Chairman, Space Commission and Chairman, ISRO and Shri Krish GopalaKrishnan, Chairman, Axilor Ventures & Co-Founder Infosys; conferment of Distinguished Fellowships on Dr Pawan Kapur, Former Director, CSIR-CSIO and Wg Cdr D N Misra (Retd), Past Vice President, IETE; presentation of IETE Lifetime Achievement Awards on Col B K Rai (Retd), Past President and Distinguished Fellow, and Prof (Dr) R K Arora, Past President and Distinguished Fellow, and many other prestigious Awards for technical excellence.
Other highlights of the Inaugural session was Installation of new IETE President, Lt Gen (Dr) AKS Chandele, PVSM, AVSM, (Retd) by Sh A S Kiran Kumar, Chairman ISRO and delivery of 48 th Bhabha Memorial Lecture by Shri A S Kiran Kumar on the topic “ India in Space”.
Established in 1953, IETE is devoted to the advancement of Electronics, Telecommunications, Computers, Information Technology and other related disciplines, serving over 1.25 lac members (individuals, industries/ organizations & students) through its 64 Centres including one in Kathmandu (Nepal). The Government of India has recognised IETE as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) and has also notified it as an Educational Institution of National Eminence. The Institution provides leadership in scientific and technical areas of direct importance to the national development and growth.
