Chinese smartphone manufacturing company LeEco is reportedly launching a manufacturing unit in India to commence production of smartphones in the country. The news came in the midst of Apple’s interests and efforts to set up its India manufacturing hub.
LeEco is known for its affordable super phones in India. Atul Jain, COO of Smart Electronics business LeEco said the company will launch its manufacturing hub in India by Q3 of 2016 at a recent LeEco event in Mumbai.
Jain discloses that LeEco is planning to initiate the manufacturing with LeEco super phone Le1s and will slowly build up with other products accordingly.
The plots are already decided for manufacturing unit and according to Jain, LeEco will soon announce about the commencement of the production within this month.
LeEco sees great potential in India in terms of technology and is also looking forward to setting up retail and offline stores in the country.
LeEco, which entered the Indian smartphone market earlier this year, has recently launched their Super 3 series Ecosystem TV in India which will be available to users through Flipkart and LeEco’s own e-commerce platform LeMall. The company is betting on its “comprehensive ecosystem” that includes content like TV dramas, shows, among others and not just devices, in order to create a success story in India.
Jain further expressed that once they manufacture LeEco smartphones in India, it will have the Made in India tag instead of Made in China.
