Lebanon largely imports electronics, electric appliances, shoes, clothes, and office and home furniture from China.
Citing safety reasons, the Middle Eastern country Lebanon, after being attacked by the Israeli air force, has decided to import telecom products from China. According to Lebanese officials, the West has lost credibility, so they will decrease buying technology and electronic products from Western countries. The East is the future of the electronics industry, and therefore, various countries have made the same decision.
Ali Al Abdullah, president of the Lebanese Chinese Business Association, has stated that the current scenario is a learning lesson for Lebanon and the rest of the world. In an interview with China’s government-owned Global Television Network, Abdullah also added that currently, there is no official confirmation from the Chinese authorities regarding the escalation of telecom product imports.
The attacks have vandalized the walkie-talkies and the pagers, which have taken the lives of numerous people and injured both the civilians and the armed group Hezbollah. As per the media reports, the US and several other officials believe that Israel hid the explosive materials in the pagers, which a Taiwanese company manufactures.
According to Abdullah, the air strikes carried out by Israel have also ruined the trade relationships with China, which amounted to US$2.44 billion a year ago. In contrast, in the first quarter of this year, the volume reached $1.14 billion. Lebanon imports electronics, electric appliances, shoes, clothes, and office and home furniture from China, while Lebanon’s exports to China include copper, olive oil, alcohol, mixed nuts, beauty products and jewelry
