Designed specifically for smart city, Oizom’s Polludrone is a state-of-the-art pollution-monitoring system that works on IoT technology
Wirnet Stations by Kerlink power the Polludrone – a comprehensive, ambient air-quality monitoring system by Oizom, deployed in the smart city project of Kakinada in the state of Andhra Pradesh for monitoring air pollution as well as noise pollution and other environmental hazards.
Kerlink, a global leader in providing infrastructure and value-added services for Internet of Things (IoT) network and Oizom, provider of environmental IoT solutions with its monitoring-systems, announced on Thursday.
Works on IoT
Oizom’s Polludrone is a state-of-the-art pollution-monitoring system. Designed specifically for smart city, this environmental monitoring solution works on IoT technology. Polludrone leverages LoRaWAN private networks for monitoring particulate concentration, air-borne toxic gases and odours, industrial and traffic emissions, weather conditions and noise. The system has a sleek, compact and modern design that enables it to be seamlessly integrated into smart city infrastructure. The system can take power from solar as well as non-solar sources.
Commenting on the development, Stéphane Dejean, Chief Marketing Officer, Kerlink, said, “Kerlink’s LoRaWAN Wirnet stations are powering public and private IoT networks in cities around the world because of their flexibility and superb performance in challenging conditions. They are the ideal gateway for Polludrone’s extensive environmental-monitoring solution, which requires robust and reliable outdoor stations that can handle high numbers of end devices and manage millions of bi-directional messages every day.”
Jainam Mehta, Chief Marketing Officer, Oizom, said, “Infrastructure costs and reliability are key factors to consider in network rollouts of this scope. We chose LoRa technology and Kerlink gateways for the deployment, because they enable energy-efficient, performance and long-range data communication that supports the most advanced IoT environmental sensors for successful and robust deployments.”
Recently, Oizom along with its local partner, Sterlite Tech, installed Polludrone, including Wirnet stations, across the city of Kakinada, where the rising traffic, industrial growth and other factors are creating challenges regarding air-quality.
