‘chargeMOD’ is expanding its deployment of electric vehicle (EV) chargers in India, emphasizing quality and affordability. The introduction of Ultra Fast Chargers is part of this expansion. The chargers are strategically located to ensure easy access for users. This initiative helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions and saves on gasoline consumption. The network boasts over 2,000 charging stations and offers support in six languages.
The energy tech startup chargeMOD, based in Kerala, has revealed its plans for expansion. It aims to install 1,200 additional EV chargers throughout India and another 600 in Kerala. Earlier this week, the company announced its intention to set up 1,000 slow chargers and 200 fast chargers in various Indian states, along with 500 slow chargers and 100 fast chargers in Kerala. This expansion includes 1,500 charging stations in Kerala and 2,000 stations across India.
ChargeMOD is also planning to introduce Ultra Fast Chargers with capacities ranging from 120 kW to 340 kW to enhance charging speeds and convenience for EV users nationwide, as stated in a press release.
M Ramanunni, CEO and Co-Founder of chargeMOD mentioned that the startup, originally led by four engineering students, has evolved into an entrepreneurial powerhouse. He emphasized that despite the challenges posed by inexpensive imported chargers, chargeMOD is committed to balancing quality and affordability while focusing on reliability and efficiency to maintain its position as a leader in the EV charging sector.
Ramanunni further stated that the company has set new standards in the electric vehicle charging industry by creating a complete ecosystem of EV charging, including hardware and software designed and manufactured in India. ChargeMOD’s strategy involves placing AC slow chargers within a 5 km radius and DC fast chargers within a 50 km radius to ensure accessibility and convenience for EV users nationwide.
The company reported that over 120 new subscribers join their network daily, and chargeMOD has facilitated over four million kilometres of emission-free travel, preventing more than 995 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions and saving over 160,000 litres of gasoline. As the first company in Kerala to develop a native mobile app for charging stations, chargeMOD, incubated under the Kerala Startup Mission, has a network of over 2,000 charging stations in 10 states and provides customer support in six languages, with 150 fast charging stations.
