Kaynes Technology plans a $30 billion OSAT unit in Telangana, awaiting ISM approval, next to Foxconn’s Kongara Kalan factory, boosting semiconductor manufacturing capabilities.
Kaynes Technology, a prominent player in the electronics manufacturing sector, is set to inaugurate a cutting-edge electronics unit in Telangana on August 23. The facility, located at Kongara Kalan, is a significant step in the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in India.
The new unit, focusing on Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Testing (OSAT), represents an investment of approximately $30 billion. This development follows Kaynes’ previous engagement with the Telangana government, which included an MoU signed last October and a groundbreaking ceremony. The OSAT unit is planned to be situated near Foxconn’s manufacturing site.
Kaynes Technology CEO, Raghu Panicker, confirmed that the new OSAT unit is awaiting approval from the Indian Semiconductor Mission (ISM) before commencing operations. This project aims to bolster the company’s capabilities in semiconductor assembly and testing, which are crucial for advancing electronics manufacturing.
In parallel, Kaynes is also pursuing approval for a more sophisticated OSAT facility in Sanand, Gujarat. This initiative is part of the central government’s Rs 76,000-crore semiconductor incentive scheme, underscoring the company’s strategic expansion within India’s growing semiconductor industry.
The establishment of these facilities highlights Kaynes Technology’s dedication to investing in advanced manufacturing capabilities and contributing to the semiconductor sector’s growth in India.
