A senior U.S. administration official has revealed that officials from the United States, South Korea and Japan are expected to discuss concerns about the shortage at recent a meeting
With a meeting between leaders of the two countries due this month, a Nikkei report suggests that Japan and United States will be collaborating on the supply of critical parts for chips and are likely to reach an agreement for the same.
The visit comes as the automakers and other electronic hardware manufacturers all over the world are incapacitated by the global shortage of semiconductor microchips across the supply chain, forcing them to cut production. The issue has become imperative for policymakers, who worry about the economic and security risks from the shortage.
As per a Reuters report, a senior U.S. administration official has revealed that officials from the United States, South Korea and Japan are expected to discuss concerns about the shortage at recent a meeting.
“It would be fair to say our three countries hold many of the keys to the future of semiconductors manufacturing technology and we will seek to affirm the importance of keeping these sensitive supply chains secure,” the official told reporters.
