It is estimated to power 100,000 households annually, reduce 188,000 MT of carbon emissions each year, and boost job opportunities.
Jakson Green, a leading player in the energy transition sector, has signed its first Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). This agreement establishes Jakson Green as a key Independent Power Producer (IPP) in the country’s growing renewable energy sector.
The PPA is a result of SECI’s Tranche XI auction, which aims to develop grid-connected solar projects nationwide. Jakson Green will be responsible for identifying the project site, installation, securing ownership, obtaining necessary approvals, and connecting with the ISTS network to supply power to SECI. The project is expected to be operational within 18 months from the signing date and will supply power for 25 years, distributing electricity to various discom entities across India.
The project is anticipated to bring commercial benefits to all parties involved and contribute significantly to environmental sustainability. It is estimated to power around 100,000 households annually, reduce approximately 188,000 MT of carbon emissions each year, and create numerous job opportunities during its construction and operational phases.
Mr. Kannan Krishnan, Joint Managing Director of Jakson Green Private Limited, expressed excitement about the partnership with SECI, stating that this project is just the beginning of their ambitious plans for the future. He emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting India’s transition to clean energy and their confidence in making a substantial impact on the country’s renewable energy objectives.
With the signing of this PPA, Jakson Green is poised to expand its portfolio to nearly 1 GW of owned and under-development assets. The company expects to sign additional agreements for significant power assets in the coming weeks, supported by a robust development pipeline, underscoring its commitment to India’s clean energy future.
