Monday, September 02, 2013: Jailhouses in Madhya Pradesh will now turn green as they have embraced renewable energy. Waaree Energies, a solar firm has bagged a contract for designing, engineering, supplying and installing solar power plants and LED lighting fixtures in 126 jailhouses in the state. The total capacity is 305 kilowatt peak (kWp).
“The solar-powered LED light fixtures will contribute significantly in overhauling the existing infrastructures within the jails and will also ensure better security standards,” the EnergyLive News quoted the firm.
“Today, being energy efficient is no more a matter of choice, it is indispensable,” EnergyLive News quoted Hitesh Doshi, CMD, Waaree Group.
Madhya Pradesh Urja Vikas Nigam Limited, which is a government agency for carrying out implementing of different programmes and policies for the renewable energy sector granted the order to the firm. Apart from this, Madhya Pradesh has embarked on the path to house the largest solar power plant in India. This piece of information was reported by ELN earlier this year.
