- Synopsys has established the second-largest design centre in India
- This centre is home to approximately 6,000 engineers from India, constituting 27 per cent of their global design workforce
Recently, the Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Jal Shakti, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, has launched Synopsys’ Chip Design Centre at DLF Tech Park in Noida.
Minister Chandrasekhar spoke about the growing ecosystem of fabless chip design and innovation in India during the inauguration. He praised Synopsys for its contribution to this ecosystem and emphasised the importance of design in India, as set out by Prime Minister Modi.
The Indian engineers at Synopsys contribute to every aspect of the design cycle of semiconductor chips/IP Cores and participate in the success stories of all leading semiconductor companies. Almost all the chips any company designs use EDA/IP solutions in one way or another.
Synopsys offers design portfolios, ranging from silicon to software, contributing to $5.9 billion in revenue. The company has established the second-largest design centre in India, extending beyond its headquarters, demonstrating confidence in Indian design talent. This centre is home to approximately 6,000 engineers from India, constituting 27 per cent of their global design workforce.
The Minister’s initiatives, such as SemiconIndia future design, Digital India RISC-V (DIR-V) Program, and the India Semiconductor Research Center (ISRC), aim to fulfil the vision set by Hon’ble Prime Minister Modi, emphasising that “Design in India is as crucial as Make in India.”
