Turbocharging its growth in North America’s tech hub, ISE Labs is set to build an OSAT semiconductor facility in Jalisco, Mexico, eyeing to create 500+ jobs in the region.
ISE Labs, a US-based provider of semiconductor engineering services, has announced the acquisition of land in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, to build an outsourced semiconductor assembly and testing (OSAT) facility and expand its operations in North America.
ISE Labs hopes to meet the growing demand for semiconductor services across the continent through this. The new facility is expected to create over 500 jobs within its first year, further driving economic growth in the region.
ISE Labs is a wholly-owned subsidiary of ASE Technology Holding Company. The project aims to contribute to regional economic development, collaborate with local educational institutions, and develop a skilled workforce.
Furthermore, the Jalisco State Ministry of Economic Development (SEDECO), Ministry of Innovation, Science, and Technology (SICyT), and Ministry of Education of Mexico will play key roles in facilitating the recruitment of specialised talent for the facility.
Although the terms of the land deal were not disclosed, Kenneth Hsiang, CEO of ISE Labs, expressed excitement about the acquisition, calling it a proactive investment that supports both business growth and ISE’s commitment to innovation.
Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, Governor of Jalisco, praised the investment, emphasising that Jalisco is now positioned as the first state in Mexico and Latin America to offer OSAT services to major North American semiconductor companies.
Jalisco currently accounts for 70% of Mexico’s semiconductor market, making it an advantageous location for this expansion. The state’s thriving technology sector and innovation-driven economy offer ISE Labs a strong foundation for success.
