- The gap in the deliveries of smartphones from China and India is just some weeks now
In an effort to narrow the gap between its India operations and its China-based production plant, Apple has decided to start the production of the new iPhone 15 at its Tamil Nadu-based plant.
As reported by the newspapers, the gap in the deliveries of smartphones from China and India is just some weeks now. The Sripreumbudur plant of Foxconn is being readied to deliver the latest devices in the coming months.
With the tension between the US and China becoming unpredictable daily, Apple is de-risking its supply chain and seeking to manufacture devices in countries other than China. Improving relations between America and India has made the latter a potential global manufacturing hub.
The assembly of the iPhone 14 in India was just a handful of what China was producing. This was reduced last year when Apple started producing 7% of its devices in India. This year’s goal is to increase these numbers further. This will be dependent on the availability of the components in India and the smooth flow of production by Foxconn. We will know in September if these changes will impact the phones’ selling price.
