With South India contributing 35% of its total business revenue, Intex Technologies, a leading domestic consumer electronics company, today said it plans to open more Smartworld stores in the region.
“In South India,Intext Smartworld has already established its footprint in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and the company wants to tap the huge potential in the region and will open nearly 40 stores in 2018-2019,” the company’s branded Retail DGM,Vishal Malik told reporters here. It is also looking to enter the Kerala market soon, he said.
Here to open a SmartWorld store, the first in the city, the fourth in Tamil Nadu and 10th in South India, Malik said that the national count of such stores have crossed 130 in 80 cities in 25 states.
Being a key market, Intex would scale up its presence in Tier II cities in south India, he said adding that Intex was looking to expand its footprint beyond metros into smaller cities and towns to reach end customers of this mature market.
Having five manufacturing plants in North India, a new plant is coming up at Greater Noida with an investment of Rs 500 crore and commercial production is likely to commence in another six months, Malik said.
