Infosys To Establish Tech Hub In Bengaluru For Polestar

A global technology centre dedicated to Polestar will be set up by Infosys in Bengaluru, which will concentrate on developing and validating software for electric vehicles.

Infosys, a leading multinational information technology services and consulting company headquartered in Bengaluru, India, has formed a strategic collaboration with Polestar, a Swedish electric performance car brand known for its innovative approach to sustainable mobility. This partnership is aimed at creating a foundational base for Polestar’s advancement in several critical technological and engineering domains. These domains include the development of in-car infotainment systems, software engineering, electrical and electronics engineering, user experience (UX) design, and the integration of cloud-powered digital services.

As part of this significant alliance, Infosys plans to establish a dedicated global technology hub for Polestar at its development centre in Bengaluru. This initiative was detailed in a recent regulatory filing, highlighting the commitment of both companies to drive innovation in the electric vehicle (EV) sector. The technology hub is envisioned to serve as a central point for the development and validation of EV software across multiple domains. These domains encompass a wide range of functionalities, such as infotainment systems that enhance the in-car experience, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that improve safety and driving efficiency, and telematics that enable real-time data communication between the vehicle and other systems.

Beyond software development, the hub is set to play a pivotal role in supporting Polestar’s broader business objectives. It will contribute to product management by streamlining development processes and reducing time-to-market for new models. In terms of customer engagement, the hub will facilitate the creation of personalized experiences and services, enhancing customer satisfaction and loyalty. Corporate solutions will also benefit from the hub’s capabilities, optimizing internal operations and promoting efficiency. Additionally, the hub aims to accelerate the delivery of direct-to-consumer digital services. This will be achieved by leveraging cloud-native development methodologies, employing rigorous testing protocols, and utilizing advanced data engineering practices to ensure robust and scalable solutions.

To enhance the effectiveness of this collaboration, Infosys will utilise the expertise of in-tech, an engineering research and development services provider that it recently acquired. The inclusion of in-tech’s specialized skills and resources is anticipated to broaden the scope and quality of services offered to Polestar. This strategic move signifies Infosys’s commitment to providing comprehensive solutions that address the complex needs of modern electric vehicle manufacturers.

Sven Bauer, the Head of Software at Polestar, remarked on this new venture by highlighting that the company is embarking on a new chapter in its global organisational setup through this partnership with Infosys in Bengaluru. He expressed optimism about the potential to build substantial automotive competencies within the newly established Polestar Tech Hub. This hub is expected to be instrumental in supporting Polestar’s expanding vehicle portfolio and the launch of new models, thereby strengthening the company’s position in the highly competitive electric vehicle market.

From a financial perspective, Infosys’s shares concluded the trading session at 1,896 Indian Rupees per share on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Wednesday. This closing price represents a slight decline of 0.09% compared to the previous day’s closing price, indicating a marginal dip in the company’s stock value. Despite this minor fluctuation, the strategic partnership with Polestar is anticipated to have a positive long-term impact on Infosys’s market performance by opening new avenues for revenue and growth in the burgeoning electric vehicle sector.

By merging Infosys’s extensive expertise in information technology services and consulting with Polestar’s innovative approach to electric vehicle manufacturing, the partnership is poised to drive significant advancements in EV technology. The establishment of the global technology hub in Bengaluru is expected to foster a culture of innovation, streamline development processes, and contribute to the acceleration of electric mobility solutions on a global scale. This collaboration not only underscores the growing importance of technology in the automotive industry but also highlights the increasing convergence of IT and automotive sectors in driving sustainable future mobility solutions.
