Transsion Holding planning to set up its global R&D centre in India for mobile brand Infinix.
Chinese smartphone maker Transsion Holding is planning to open its global research and development (R&D) centre in India for its online-focused brand Infinix. This decision comes as a part of the company’s “India-first” strategy to develop devices especially for Indian consumers. On the other hand Transsion has also begun discussions with component partners to establish manufacturing units in the country.
In an interaction with Economic Times, Benjamin Jiang, managing director of Infinix Mobile informed that the company has achieved 100 percent CKD manufacturing through its own and OEM partners. As a next step, Infinix now plans to establish R&D center in India, which will initially focus on software locatlisation and device quality, but will eventually help in hardware and software development, stated Jiang.
Jiang positioned Indian market at the core of the company’s global strategy. He further informed that they are in talks with some partners to bring in component manufacturing ecosystem in India since some of the components are already being locally sourced for mobile phones.
