The PM Surya Ghar Scheme aims to install solar rooftops on 1 crore households, driving India’s move towards sustainable energy with $750 billion allocated.
Under the astute leadership of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), the PM Surya Ghar Scheme, aims to install solar rooftops on one crore households with a budget of $750 billion.
The scheme aims to provide substantial economic relief through solar power, offering subsidies ranging from $300 billion to $780 billion to households based on their electricity consumption. This means that the more a household uses solar power, the higher the subsidy they can receive. This move supports India’s shift towards sustainable energy and aims to offset energy costs for a wide demographic.
Initial challenges with the digital portal and subsidy disbursement have been addressed with rapid improvements. The government has resolved IT issues, cleared all subsidy cases up to June 20th, and is intensifying awareness campaigns to boost applications. India’s robust solar module manufacturing capacity, with 58 GW available versus the 30 GW needed, supports the scheme’s progress without supply delays.
The PM Surya Ghar Scheme is on track to surpass its target, making significant strides towards India’s renewable energy objectives and setting a global standard for sustainability.
