Emphasising India’s self-reliance in defence, the first Annual Niche Technology Nexus (NTN-2024) seminar focused on quantum and electronic warfare technologies.
On Friday, the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS), in collaboration with the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies, hosted the inaugural Annual Niche Technology Nexus (NTN-2024) Seminar in New Delhi.
The seminar, ‘Innovating Tomorrow’s Battlefront with Quantum and Electronic Mastery,’ focused on enhancing defence capabilities through advanced technologies, keeping India’s push for self-reliance in defence in focus.
It recommended adopting quantum-safe algorithms, and developing quantum rf sensors, radar, ISR products, optical clocks, quantum navigation systems, and advanced electronic warfare technologies for future armed forces.
At the inauguration, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan highlighted the National Quantum Mission. He stressed the strategic importance of quantum technology, particularly in fields like quantum key distribution, navigation, and sensing systems for future warfare.
General Chauhan also spoke about the transformative potential of AI, ML, and Quantum Technologies in Electronic Warfare, urging continued investment in R&D, collaboration, and workforce development to position India as a global leader.
The one-day event provided a platform for academia, experts, research institutions, and the defence industry to explore advancements in niche technologies and discuss their implications for national defence. Putting the need for civil-military collaboration to leverage emerging technologies at the forefront, the NTN-2024 sought to lay the foundation for future innovation and capacity-building in electronic warfare.
The Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff aims to position the Indian Armed Forces at the forefront of technological advancements. In partnership with India’s leading scientific and industrial innovators, the staff is refining the roadmap for capability development under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
