With rising 5G demand and advanced features as the driving force, smartphone company Infinix India CEO reported that smartphones priced ₹10,000-₹20,000 now lead the Indian market.
Smartphones priced between ₹10,000 and ₹20,000 now dominate the Indian market, noted tech giant Infinix India CEO Anish Kapoor. This range of devices accounts for over 40% of total sales. Kapoor remarked on a recent surge in demand for 5G-enabled devices within this price range, which has surpassed the previous market leaders priced below ₹10,000.
Kapoor, speaking in Lucknow on Thursday during the launch of Infinix’s new Note 40X 5G, observed that after two years of stagnation, the market has started to recover and grow again.
He had said previously that smartphones priced under ₹10,000 used to dominate the Indian market, accounting for about 35% to 40% of sales. However, he stated that the market has shifted, with phones priced between ₹10,000 and ₹20,000 now capturing nearly 43% of the market.
Kapoor attributed the shift to consumers’ desire for upgraded features and the latest technology. He commented that the introduction of 5G technology has increased demand for 5G phones, which currently start at ₹10,000 to ₹11,000.
Regarding Infinix’s performance in the local market, he said that the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh is a major market for them, both online and offline, and the brand has received an outstanding response there.
He stated that the company focuses on creating advanced products and high-quality features at lower prices, which is how they are known.
