Thursday, September 26, 2013: A National Solar Map has been published by the solar industry consultancy, Bridge to India. It shows installed capacity of states, market shares and trends from project sizes, tariffs, policies and market predictions. The information has been taken from analysts, industry insiders and various companies for an accurate illustration.
As cited on pv-tech.org, the map is designed to portray the national solar industry for insight of large industry. The map was disclosed at first on 12 September and distributed to over 12,000 visitors at the seventh Renewable Energy India Expo. It emphasizes state policy as a primary driver for projects commissioned with 1.8GW commissioned as of August.
The top three solar states that have the highest installed capacity are Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. The states that have the most number of newly commissioned projects are Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Punjab.
The average tariff price has dipped by 63 per cent over the past three years and the average tariff on offer is about INR 7.7 per kWh. The graphic depicts a trend in growing project size year-on-year since 2011. Almost 42 per cent of modules used in India are thin film and First Solar occupies the highest market share in modules and Canadian Solar in crystalline.
