Monday, February 03, 2014: Solar energy will see an all new level this year! The second phase of bidding of the national solar mission in India were closed recently. The auction was for 750 MW, but the total bids received for the same amounted to 2,170MW.
As many as 68 bids were received for 122 projects from 58 developers in total. It is noteworthy that a single developer can be allocated a maximum capacity of 100 MW only. But there are many developers who have put on bids for over 100MW capacity as well. Here are some details of the bids received:
ACME: 200 MW
Azure Power: 200 MW
SunEdison: 150 MW
Welspun: 160 MW
The winning projects for this phase are likely to be announced by 20 February. If reports are to be believed, the next auction is likely to be for 1,000 MW capacity of solar projects. The next auction is supposed to be announced in the month of May.
