At the Ceatec Japan 2017, there was a dedicated area for India’s major tech companies, startups and technical institutes. It was the first time an Indian pavilion was set up at the annual home electronics and information technology trade show.
Organizers hoped the event would promote technological as well as human resources collaboration between the two countries, especially in the area of internet of things (IoT) technology, and lead to game-changing new innovations.
As soon as the show opened, the “India Showcase” pavilion started to attract visitors. Japanese engineers were drawn in to a presentation that showed how to use virtual reality in designing the interior and exterior of a car. It was by Tech Mahindra, a member of Mahindra Group.
A Japanese trading company employee said he had come to the show to seek business leads in India.
“We’re looking for opportunities to do agritech business in India, and I came here because I thought I might be able to make contact with Indian companies,” he said to media mentioning the use of technology in farming.
The Indian exhibitors include a total of 25 companies, including large ones as well as startups, and two universities, including the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad.
Starting on Wednesday, the IoT Acceleration Consortium, comprising Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and people from industry and academia, is set to provide an opportunity for participants from the two countries to connect with each other.
