India and Italy, at the technology summit, has announced to strengthen the ties by introducing the Industrial Research and Development Cooperation programme
At the recently concluded Technology summit, India and Italy have committed to boosting their scientific and technological ties by partnering to co-work on the areas such as transportation, automobile designing, renewable energy, clean technology, communication technology and healthcare.
The summit was organised by the Department of Science and Technology and the Confederation of Indian Industry in association with the government of Italy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the summit, declared the next phase of the two countries bilateral Industrial Research and Development Cooperation programme.
Industrial cooperation programme
The Prime Minister informed that the programme would boost the ties between the two countries and the focus would be mainly on taking software power and technological developments to the next level. He said that Italy would be working together with India on the accessories design industry, especially in transportation and automobile design segments.
The programme would ensure quality innovation in the science and technology areas. He cited India’s space programme as an example and said that the country had already embarked to build stronger ties by supplying affordable satellites to Italy. The Prime Minister called upon an increased adoption of technology in everyday life and that India should ensure technological developments in the future with the help of the younger generation.
Giuseppe Conte, Prime Minister, Italy shared that there would be collaborations to enhance health technology and renewable energy. He added that introducing joint ventures for robotics, particle physics and astrophysics would further help in the process of development. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a firm belief on the Italy-India partnership to provide effective solutions in the manufacturing sector.
