Monday, June 09, 2014: India has reportedly found itself amongst the five top nations in the world in concentrated solar power (CSP) technology capacity rankings by the US, said a report. The country is reportedly placed at number four, leading China. The rankings have reportedly been released by the Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21 Century (Ren21), which is a multi policy stakeholder network promoting rapid global transition to renewable energy.
Further, according to the report, Spain and the US were the leaders in CSP, with investment in technology growing very rapidly in areas with high amounts of daily sunshine. The capacity of global CSP has also been increased by 10 times to 36 per cent since 2004. The total capacity is estimated to be around 3.4 GigaWatts.
More and more nations are supporting renewable energy. Reports say that the number has increased by over six times in the last eight years, with 15 developing countries in 2005 to 95 earlier this year.
