January 14, 2015: India electronics and semiconductor association (IESA), the apex body for the ESDM industry in the country, has announced their 10th consecutive annual flagship event, IESA Vision Summit scheduled on February 2nd and 3rd at The Leela Palace, Bengaluru. As the country strives to strengthen its domestic manufacturing footprint, IESA Vision Summit 2015 under the theme ‘Make in India – Vision to Reality’ will focus on the domestic design and manufacturing agenda from the ESDM sector perspective. The event is supported by department of electronics and IT (DeitY) and department of telecommunication (DoT), government of India.
The two-day event will be presided over by Siddaramaiah, chief minister, government of Karnataka, with Chandrababu Naidu, chief minister, government of Andhra Pradesh, Gustavo de Arístegui, ambassador of Spain to India, R S Sharma, IAS, secretary of DeitY and director general of the software technology parks of India (STPI) Dr Omkar Rai.
The event features a powerful line-up of industry experts, government officials, strategists, policy makers and business leaders, offering their views on how India can dominate the world of electronics and semiconductors in the coming decade. The topics of conference include transfer of technology and intellect property; starting up the ESDM start-up ecosystem; semiconductor fab – opportunities, challenges and accelerators; and realising smart cities with IoT – an international perspective.
Ashok Chandak, chairman, India electronics & semiconductor association and senior director, NXP Semiconductors said, “The country is undergoing a path breaking shift in its approach towards manufacturing and moving to a new orbit, thanks to the favourable policy environment created by the union government and several state governments’ commitments. Building on IESA’s vision of ‘innovation led design, design led manufacturing’; the 10th edition will focus on the strategies which will enable us to realise the Make in India vision a reality for ESDM sector, speed up policy implementation and garner large scale investments to contribute to economic development of India.” “The event will see participation of over 40 speakers, 700+ industry and academia participants, government leaders and prominent international business delegations”, he added.
M N Vidyashankar, president, IESA said, “There are plenty of opportunities for private players to leverage and Vision Summit will be the platform to network, discuss and debate on putting India on top of the world of electronics design and manufacturing, redefine the agenda and outline the future course of action. We are introducing a speed dating session between VCs and start-ups and hosting a special investment promotion zone. Emerging opportunities in smart cities, enabling start up ecosystem and scope and challenges of setting up of fab’s would also be points of curiosity.”
There is high level participation from the government of India and various state governments including Karnataka, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Orissa., IT secretaries of these state governments are some of the prominent government speakers at the event.
Well known social activist, Kiran Bedi will be presenting the prestigious IESA Technovation Awards for excellence in Electronics System Design and Manufacturing across various categories along with Amarendra Sinha, special secretary, MSME and host state IT minister S R Patil. Realising the potential of India’s ESDM sector, country delegations from UK and Singapore have confirmed their participation while Japan and Taiwan have tentatively confirmed their interest to be a part of the event.
