Friday, September 13, 2013: The India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA) has been entrusted with the task of preparing detailed project report for the establishment of an Electronic Manufacturing Cluster at Info-Valley in the outskirt of the city. IESA is the premier trade body that represents the Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (EMC) industry. A scheme of Department of Electronics and Information Technology entails preparation of DPR by IESA. This scheme envisages establishment of greenfield as well as brownfield EMCs.
The officials of IESA informed the state government at a meeting that the trade body had prepared the DPR for EMC cluster of Karnataka.
Around 160 acres of land at Info-Valley has been reserved for ESDM industry. Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Odisha (Idco) in joint cooperation with IT major, Infosys is developing the Info-Valley that is spread across 600 acres of land.
The aim of the Union government’s National Policy on Electronics is to draw an investment to the tune of $100 billion and generate almost 28 million jobs by the year 2020.
It will take 16 weeks for IESA to complete the assignment from the date of issue of the letter of intent. According to the EMC guideline of DeitY, a special purpose vehicle will be constituted between the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) and Idco with equivalent share holdings.
In Bhubaneswar, the cluster is supposed to be a greenfield project because there is absence of hardware industries in the state. In addition to it, IESA is supposed to g ors on with regard to investment in the cluster and regarding contribution to the cost of project as per the EMC scheme.
