IESA Concludes 2-Day National Seminar On Semiconductors

IESA National Seminar on Semiconductors in India: Challenges and Opportunity Credits: IESA

The IESA National Seminar on semiconductors was attended by nearly 500 engineering students and industry experts.

India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA) concluded the two-day national seminar on ‘Semiconductor in India: Challenges and Opportunity’ in Gandhinagar.

The seminar featured lectures from key functionaries from the government of Gujarat, electronic design automation (EDA) tool experts, semiconductor fab specialists, experts from academia, the industry and the Gujarat State Electronics Mission, representatives from Dholera special investment region (SIR), Semiconductor Laboratory (SCL), Mohali and policymakers.

Senior officials from the government, industry captains, accomplished academia and process specialists, addressed nearly 500 engineering students at the seminar. IESA chairperson, Vivek Tyagi, expressed his delight at witnessing the participation of young engineering students.

The seminar covered various aspects of semiconductor manufacturing, the creation of fabless entities, the setting up of OSAT facilities, and promoting and widening electronics manufacturing in India. Experts also spoke about creating a robust supply chain for the electronics system design and manufacturing (ESDM) sector in the country.

With India’s semiconductor market expected to more than double between 2021 to 2026 and tentatively touch US$ 64 billion, IESA vice president Anurag Awasthi underlined the importance of  ideating, and spreading “awareness about the policies, current scenario, likely challenges and possibilities in this crucial space which nearly affects all sectors.”

“The two-day seminar is a testimony to IESA’s vision to nurture and grow the semiconductor and ESDM industry in India,” Tyagi added.

IESA represents the semiconductors and ESDM industry in India and aims to promote electronics and semiconductor technology solutions. Its member companies comprise global semiconductor firms operating out of India, Indian electronics companies as well as MSMEs and startups. The association acts as a knowledge partner to the central & state governments with regard to electronics policy matters, to enable their value growth in India. It also collaborates with academia to bridge the gap between the latter and the industry, to bring campus innovations faster to market.
