Ola Electric, at an event on Monday, announced the launch of their first electric car by 2024. Though not much has been revealed about the car yet, it has been told that it will have a range of over 500 km. Another exciting feature is its capability to attain exceptional speed in just four seconds. The company has also unveiled a new S1 scooter and its own battery. Ola CEO and co-founder, Bhavish Aggarwal believes that the company’s Ola Future factory will bring about an EV Revolution in the Indian market by producing one million EV cars in the times to come.
The EV was announced via an online event, on the occasion of Independence day. During the launch, Aggarwal noted, “We deserve a car that defines this new India. An India that is fearless and believes in writing its own destiny. Our car is going to be one of the fastest cars in India. 0 to 100 within 4 seconds, it will have a range of more than 500 kilometres per charge. It will be the sportiest car ever built in India, with an all-glass roof, it will have Move OS and assisted driving capabilities as good as any other car in the world. It will be keyless and handleless.” Tata, on the other hand, claims that its compact electric SUV ‘Nexon’ has a range of 437 kilometres and attains a similar speed in about 9.4 seconds. But the form factor of Ola EV is yet to be revealed.
While its launch is scheduled for 2024, Aggarwal says that the Ola Electric car will sport a futuristic-looking design. We have to wait for some time to know more about the product details and related features. It is noteworthy that Ola EV scooters are already available in the market.
