Huawei in India
Huawei has been operating in India and has developed its brand image since its inception. It is also one of the earliest Chinese companies to invest in the country. It works in close coordination with some of the largest global networks across the nation – an overseas research and development centre (R&D) in Bengaluru and marketing, manufacturing, logistics, engineering services and skilling and training centres across the country.
Earlier, Huawei had associated with major Indian operators lead the 5G laboratory testing programme in India. The department of telecom, in September, had decided to bar Chinese equipment makers, Huawei and ZTE from running 5G trials in India by citing security reasons. However, the issue was solved and both the companies were taken on-board to contribute towards driving the 5G ecosystem.
