Huawei, service centre, India, Bangalore

Chinese telecom giant Huawei has set up a new global service centre—its biggest to date—in India with an initial investment of ₹136 crore.

The company already has three other GSCs in China, Romania and Mexico, but the new facility in Bengaluru is expected to handle the highest number of projects compared to the three.

The India GSC will handle more than 50 projects, supporting over 30 countries in Asia, the Middle East and Africa, serving over 350 million subscribers.

The telecom gear maker has hired more than 1,000 engineers, network operation specialists and support staff to work at its new facility, supporting Huawei’s ‘Make in India’ vision.

Huawei notified that the Bengaluru site’s services include global network operations, network integration, network planning and optimisation as well as IT integration.

Huawei India CEO Jay Chen expressed that India has always been a priority market for Huawei and they have been investing in India right from 1999 when Huawei opened their R&D centre in Bengaluru—the first one outside China.
