Recently, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) and HPCL Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) signed an MoU to move ahead in the domain of green energy and realize their energy transition objectives. The agreement was signed by Sh V. V. Sivakumar, GM of NGEL and Sh Girish Ghildiyal, GM of HMEL at Noida. As per the deal, both parties plan to join hands in the field of Renewable Energy by sourcing 250 MW RE-RTC (Round-The-Clock) power to meet the requirement of HMEL and also exploring opportunities in the green hydrogen business & its derivatives like green ammonia & green methanol.
India’s power utility giant NTPC has formed NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) as a fully owned subsidiary to take up renewable energy projects including business in the area of Green Hydrogen and Energy Storage Tech.
HPCL Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL), is a Joint Venture between HPCL and Mittal Energy Investments Pvt Ltd. which is an integrated refining and petrochemical company in India. HMEL is engaged in the business of superior petroleum and petrochemical products and operates the Guru Gobind Singh Refinery (GGSR) with an 11.3 MMTPA capacity at Bathinda, Punjab.
