Huawei’s sub-brand Honor is slowly but steadily gaining traction in India. Huawei claims to have almost doubled the shipment of Honor smartphones to India in 2017 as compared to 2016.
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has launched a slew of successful products in India this year including the four eyed Honor 9i, flagship Honor 8 Pro and the dual camera Honor 6X. Honor President George Zhao told PTI – “Honor shipped 98.8 per cent more devices in 2017 (to India) than in 2016”. Honor plans to introduce smartphones with artificial intelligence features in India early next year. It is also planning to increase its manufacturing capacity in India.
Honor is also set to launch the Honor 7X in India on December 5 for an “unbeatable price”. The 7X is the successor to the popular Honor 6X and comes with a dual camera setup at the back, 4GB of RAM, the Kirin 659 processor and a 5.9-inch FullHD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. On the imaging front, the smartphone has dual camera setup at the rear – a primary 16MP sensor paired with a secondary 2MP camera for the capture of depth data. There is a single 8MP shooter up front for selfies.
Huawei Consumer Business Group Vice President – Sales, P Sanjeev told PTI – “India is a key market for Honor and we will bridge the gap between our global and India launches going forward. We are looking to time our India launches in tandem with global launch and going by that, we should be seeing the new AI phones in India as soon as they are launched in the overseas market.”
