Showcasing cutting-edge tech, global innovation, and booming markets for the future of electronics, HKTDC’s Hong Kong Electronics Fair and electronicAsia drew 60,000+ professionals.

Last month, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) hosted two major industry events—the Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and electronicAsia. Held over four days from October 13 to 16, these fairs attracted more than 60,000 industry professionals from 136 countries and regions.

This year, there was a significant increase in buyers from countries such as Malaysia, Türkiye, Argentina, and the UAE, along with the expanding role of these events as vital sourcing platforms for the global electronics industry.

“The global trend towards smart living is driving demand for innovative products and solutions. The Electronics Fair and electronicAsia serve as efficient platforms for the industry, enabling exhibitors to showcase their electronic products and technology solutions to buyers,” noted Sophia Chong, Deputy Executive Director of the HKTDC.

The Electronics Fair featured over 20 specialised zones showcasing the latest advancements in domains such as smart cities, smart mobility, gerontechnology, and digital entertainment.

There were 78 events and forums with industry leaders sharing insights on trends and innovations, including the ‘Symposium on Innovation & Technology’, the ‘Hong Kong Electronic Forum’, and the ‘Reliability Assurance for Electronic Systems Forum’. Activities like investment matching, pitch competitions, and mentorship sessions for new ventures were there as well.

This year’s Symposium on Innovation & Technology, titled “When Two Worlds Collide: The Confluence of Digital Twins & Real-Life Applications,” hosted prominent guests and drew a large number of industry professionals.

One of the first-time exhibitors, Newmen Ho from Hing Kong-based Zunosaki Limited, highlighted the company’s hand rehabilitation robot at the Startup Zone. During the event, he met with potential buyers from Taiwan, Korea, and India.

The Hall of Fame showcased consumer electronics from top global brands, including Asia Kingston (HK) Limited, which displayed a gaming chair featuring the NASA logo.

An independent survey commissioned by the HKTDC interviewed 1091 buyers and exhibitors at the Electronics Fair. 53% expect sales to increase in the next 12 to 24 months, while 43% anticipate stable sales.

Accordingly, emerging markets, including India, the Middle East, and Latin America, are expected to have the highest growth potential, followed by Korea, Mainland China, Australia, and the Pacific Islands.

The Tech Hall featured products utilizing advanced technologies such as 3D printing, IoT, robotics, AR, and XR.

Hong Kong’s consumer electronics brand, Momax’s founder and CEO John Cheng reported securing a long-term partnership with a publicly listed company in Papua New Guinea, valued at an initial US$50,000 order. Through the HKTDC’s ‘Click2Match’ platform, Momax also connected with a potential long-term partner from Australia.

Local brands, including the renowned electronics brand Momax, showcased their products to international buyers.

Following a hybrid ‘EXHIBITION+’ model, exhibitors and buyers were able to engage through the Click2Match platform for online meetings and business negotiations. The platform remained available until October 23.

Another participant, Dongguan Maochang Printed Circuit Board Ltd, attended electronicAsia to stay current on industry trends and explore new markets. Sales Director Michael Tsang reported engaging with over 200 potential buyers and gaining deeper insights into customer needs.

The concurrent electronicAsia featured various zones displaying products like electronic components, keyboards, switches, power supply equipment, and more.

As buyers also expressed satisfaction with the diverse offerings at the fair, HKTDC’s survey predicted strong market potential for wearable electronics (65%), robotics technology (59%), and e-sports products, especially in North America and Europe.

Vinal Patel, Chief Commercial Officer of UK-based Brand Collective, secured over US$2 million in purchases, including charging cables, power banks, and wireless speakers. Turkish buyer Yusuf Gündogdu, Co-founder of Robotistan Elektronik Tic AS, emphasised the importance of face-to-face meetings with exhibitors, especially growth-stage companies in the Startup Zone.

The Hong Kong Electronic Forum, co-organised by HKTDC, MMI Asia, and the Hong Kong Electronic Industries Association, focused on “Innovation Unleashed: The Intersection of Microelectronics, AI, and Open-Source Ecosystems.”

“We are pleased to see exhibitors and buyers successfully exploring business opportunities at the exhibitions, which are expediting Hong Kong’s development into an international innovation and technology centre,” commented Sophia Chong at the success of the events.

Focusing to foster cross-industry business opportunities, the HKTDC also hosted events in late October, including the Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition), the Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo, and ECO Expo Asia.
