Friday, December 27, 2013: The Haryana government has said that it will create opportunities to offer direct or indirect employment to 1.3 million people in the next five years. The employment will be offered in Information Technology (IT) and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES) sector in the state. As of now, Haryana accounts for 6.8 per cent of the employment in the IT sector throughout the country, reported TOI.
In order to achieve the target, the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) has developed infrastructure for Technology Parks and Electronics Hardware Technology Parks in the State. This is expected to help the youth get enough opportunities of employment in this sector. These technology parks are situated at Panchkula, Manesar, Kundli and Rai.
Additionally, licenses have been granted to 45 proposals for the establishment of IT or cyber parks across the State. The state has also recommended proposals for the setting up of 28 special economic zones.
According to official sources of TOI, “The State government has decided to establish ‘Haryana Knowledge Corporation Limited (HKCL)’ in collaboration with the Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) as an institutional arrangement for creation of mass IT literacy opportunities in the State. Promoters’ agreement has been signed with the MKCL and the company is in advanced stage of incorporation.”
Moreover, IT labs have been established in 64 colleges and in more than 2,600 schools across the State.
