Haryana has finally decided to opt for solar energy to generate power for the state. The Haryana government would tap solar energy in a big way to generate additional power, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda reportedly said on the sidelines of Cabinet meeting.
It has taken some time for the state government to understand the importance of looking for power source alternatives. According to a PTI report, the Chief Minister has said he had directed officers concerned to take technical advice for setting up solar power plants on canals.
The report also states that the state government has signed a MoU with Bhutan for setting up a 1,500 to 2,000 MW hydro power project, he said, which will expand Haryana’s reach to develop solar plants on canals.solar energy, haryana, gujarat, rajasthan, karnataka, tamil nadu, roof-top solar power, solar panel, solar energy, solar india solar power india
These steps taken by Haryana should encourage other states to follow suit and be a part of India’s solar power mission, most notably Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM).
States like Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu have made rapid strides in setting up the solar power hub in the country and with initiatives like roof-top solar power plants in place, it is now up to the government to guide the interested parties.
