Haryana government has successfully distributed over 10 million LED bulbs under Government of India’s Unnat Jeevan by Affordable LEDs and Appliances for all (UJALA) programme.
The scheme has resulted in daily savings of over Rs. 14.2 million in consumer electricity bills and has helped the state in avoiding a peak demand of 255 MW. The annual energy saved from this programme can help light up 0.24 million Indian homes for an entire year.
The UJALA programme in Haryana is implemented by Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitaran Nigam (UHBVN) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitaran Nigam (DHBVN) with support from Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) under the administration of Ministry of Power, Government of India.
Haryana had recently launched the Energy Efficient Fans and LED Tube lights programme under UJALA. More than 7,000 energy efficient fans and 46,000 LED tube lights have been distributed till date and these UJALA appliances have helped the consumers save over ₹5200 million annually.
Currently, the tubelights and Fan Distribution program under UJALA Scheme is being undertaken in the Districts of Ambala, Panchkula, Gurgaon, Faridabad, Palwal, Hisar, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Bhiwani, Sonipat, Rewari, Narnaul and Panipat; while the programme for the remaining districts of Haryana will be launched by the last week of March, 2017.
