Tuesday, November 19, 2013: Solar energy firms in Madhya Pradesh have been hit hard as the state distribution companies are buying meager power from them. According to industry sources, a deal was inked between the firms and the discoms that the deficit would be met. However, due to the high rate discord, the discoms have stepped back.
As per Times Of India, the MP power management company is currently buying solar energy from the firms though that still leaves a huge deficit. This company arranges power for the discoms with the prime hindrance still being the cost.
Firms like Ujaas, Welspun and Waaree, which are still producing solar energy feel that unless there is a new regulation in favour of the producers, you will not see major changes in the situation.
Joint managing director of Indore –based solar energy producing firm, Ujaas, Anurag Mundra said, “We are looking for a regulation that makes discoms to buy particular amount of power from the producers.” He also cited Goa as an example to follow suit.
Though the situation is crippling, the firms are still hopeful that the MP electricity regulatory commission will come up with stringent norms to persuade discoms to end their woes.
