GCT Semiconductor signs an MOU with Samsung for test environments and IoDT support, aiming to advance 4G/5G solutions and expand in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
On Tuesday, GCT Semiconductor Holding Inc., designer and supplier of advanced 4G and 5G semiconductor solutions, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.
Samsung’s role will involve providing test environments as well as interoperability and device testing (IoDT) support for GCT’s chipset certification, which is crucial for GCT’s chips used in CPEs, mobile routers, ruggedized phones, and IoT devices.
This collaboration is not just about accelerating the development of 4G and 5G chipsets and modules, but also about driving broader adoption among device makers.
By working together, GCT and Samsung will be able to offer integrated solutions that are more robust and reliable, thereby strengthening the ecosystem for OEM and ODM device makers.
This initiative is set to benefit wireless operators globally, including Saudi Arabia’s Aramco, in areas such as the 450 MHz and 4.0 GHz frequency bands, mission-critical public safety, and more.
John Schlaefer, CEO of GCT, expressed enthusiasm about expanding the 4G/5G ecosystem in Saudi Arabia and other markets. He highlighted the goal of addressing the increasing demand for faster data speeds and higher capacity.
