- The companies claim this board will create up to 60 per cent bill of materials cost savings
- The board has been developed for existing and new PCB designs
Canada based semiconductor company GaN Systems and US based ON Semiconductor have announced a high-speed, half-bridge GaN daughter board using GaN Systems’ 650V, 30A GaN E-HEMTs and ON Semiconductor’s NCP51820 high-speed gate driver evaluation board.
Suitable for existing and new PCBs
The board has been developed for existing and new Printed circuit boards (PCB) designs and will allow designers to evaluate GaN in existing half-bridge or full-bridge power supplies claims GaN. It has a reduced component count in an ultra-small 25mm x 25mm layout, minimizing PCB board space says GaN.
It also comes with a 1+MHz operation and a 200V/ns Common Mode Transient Immunity (CMTI) rating. The company claims this will give increased power density and improved performance with fast-switching GaN power transistors.
Up to 80 per cent reduction in layout size
The company claims that this product will give up to 80 per cent reduction in layout size and up to 60 per cent Bill of Materials cost savings. It is suitable for applications like AC-DC adapters, data-center power supplies, photovoltaic (PV) inverters, energy storage systems, and bridgeless totem pole topologies.
