- The project aims to develop a new range of batteries badged Generation 3b
- SenSE is part of the European Battery Alliance
As per a report by Automotive testing technology, FPT Industrial has joined the European battery research project SeNSE. It will work with five other industrial companies and five research institutes to advance lithium-ion battery technology.
The report said that the project aims to develop a new range of batteries badged Generation 3b. They have a higher energy density and improved cell chemistry. They also have a faster-charging capability and more refined temperature management than lithium-ion batteries available nowadays.
Sustainable battery cells
As per the report, SeNSE plans to produce the new batteries in gigafactories in Europe. The cathode of the device will be manufactured without the use of flammable and toxic solvents. this will simplify production and reduce cost.
SenSE is part of the European Battery Alliance. It was launched by the European Commission in 2017 to create a competitive manufacturing value chain in Europe with sustainable battery cells. The EU research funding program Horizon 2020 supports it.
