Finnish firm Fortum who has recently secured 100 MW grid-connected solar project through competitive bidding in April this year, under National Solar Mission, is now eyeing at greenfield plants to boost its returns.

At present, Fortum has 15 MW of solar capacity in India.The recently ensured solar power plant will be built in Pavagada Solar Park in Tumkur District of Karnataka with a fixed tariff of Rs 4.79 per unit for 25 years.
The company is planning to construct its own power plant and not purchase any already existing plant.
The Finnish firm is also looking at other two other major field where till now no investment has been made, namely waste to energy and charge and drive.
On the other hand the company is also quiet affirmative about achieving the 100 GW of solar power generation capacity by 2022.
Listed on Nasdaq Helsinki, Fortum’s main areas of operation are the Nordic and the Baltic countries, Russia and Poland.
