According to a report by Electrek, Ford’s Lincoln luxury brand has teamed up with Rivian to build “an all-new fully electric vehicle”. It will use Rivian’s electric platform to develop the vehicle said the report.
The report added that over the last one year, Rivian received around $3 billion in investments from different companies. This includes Ford as well. Ford invested $500 million in the company. During that time, Ford had confirmed that the two will work together to build a new EV.
Future of fully electric vehicles
As per the report, Joy Falotico, president of the Lincoln Motor Company, said that working with Rivian marked a pivotal point for Lincoln as the company is moving towards a future that includes fully electric vehicles. The vehicle will take Quiet Flight to a new place with zero emissions, effortless performance and connected and intuitive technology as per him.
Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe said that the company’s vehicle development partnership is an opportunity to pair Rivian’s technology with Lincoln’s vision for innovation and refinement. The report said that Rivian aims to release its own electric pickup truck and SUV by the end of the year.
