Monday, August 26, 2013: Kolkata-based electrical equipment company, Eveready Industries India has apprised Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) that it has shut down the Camperdown Unit at Cossipore, which was not carrying out any operations since the month of September 2008. It was closed from 21 August, 2013. It also informed the BSE that required actions have been put in place regarding the shut down of the unit.
The company carries out the production of batteries and lighting solutions and is also involved in the tea business. Its portfolio includes ‘dry cell batteries (carbon zinc batteries, rechargeable batteries and alkaline batteries), flashlights (torches), CFLs (Compact Fluorescent Lamps) along with packet tea.
The shares of the company, Eveready Industries India Ltd., last traded at Rs.15.45, up by Rs.0.15 or 0.98 per cent. Moreover, the stock of the company hit an intraday high of Rs.15.70 and low of Rs.15.30. In comparison to the two week average of 0.44 lakhs, the total traded quantity stood at 0.26 lakhs.
It was earlier known as Union Carbide India Limited. It is the flagship company of the B.M. Khaitan Group, which is present in India since 1905. It is considered as the third largest producer of carbon zinc batteries.
