Eveready Industries, a large seller of LED products, launched a portable lighting system in Kerala. The newly lighting launched system is a set of rechargeable products with LED technology. These products include table lamps and wall mounted lamps. These lamps provide light up to 20 hours and their charging time is also short.
The company expects that these products will give it better turnover and increased profitability this year. The spokesperson has reportedly said that the company hopes to make marginal profit in 2012-13 against a loss in 2011-12.
Eveready will import these products from China to conform to its specifications without additional overheads. It has launched these products in South India, as it feels that the southern market for LED lights will pick up soon, as power shortage is becoming acute in the region. It will also help Eveready to penetrate bigger markets of lighting.
According to a Frost & Sullivan report, 2013-2017 is set to be the period of rapid growth for LED lighting in India. With government’s increased focus on setting the LED light standards, the share of unorganised market is set to reduce to around 20 per cent in 2018 from the current 50 per cent.
