Following a strong central government push towards EVs, the Noida Authority has partnered with energy efficiency services limited (EESL) and has also announced that it has procured five electric vehicles (EVs) for official use.
First step
EESL and the Noida Authority will be setting up 100 charging stations across the city in 36 locations. The government believes that this is the first step towards adopting clean energy transportation and raising awareness among the citizens, reported Inc42.
Noida Authority general manager Rajeev Tyagi told the news daily that the government plans to start working on 14 of these 36 locations to tackle the air pollution problem.
Steps taken so far
Recently, the electricity board of Kerala also announced to set up electric vehicle charging stations at every 25 km in Kerala over the next two years. The project aims to set up 100 centres that would allow charging six different types of vehicles. Not only that, the transport department has reportedly submitted a recommendation to convert all of the government vehicles to electric ones.
Earlier this month, EESL also signed a 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with BSNL (Punjab Telecom Circle) to install 100 public charging stations to boost e-mobility in Punjab.
