Thursday, January 09, 2014: Electronic products manufacturing organisations are insisting that the Indian Government quicken the process of acquiring compulsory recommendation tags from the house of Bureau of Indian Standards or BIS.
According to a recent report, the Indian Government has already objected to extend the deadline for the product certification process. For this reason, the electronic good manufacturing companies feel this delay in getting BIS tags are slowing down the launch schedules for new products.
As a result of this condition of getting BIS tags, The Manufactures’ Association has requested the Indian Government to extend the deadline for getting BIS tags. However, the government has expressed its objection to extend the deadline for the third time.
The executive director of MAIT has said that since a fixed process of registration for the BIS tags doesn’t exist, in order to solve this issue the government must fix a transparent date for passing BIS tags. This opaque process of getting BIS tags are delaying the organisations in launching their products and BIS will experience a pile of applications from these organisations.
The executive director of MAIT also informed that the government is planning to add some more products that may include some essential medical products to the BIS compulsory certification listing. The chief marketing officer of Acer, S. Rajendran reveals that it may say that Government is working for last 30 days to clear the backlog list. Once it will be done, the process will take a normal start. Till now, there are 15 IT related goods are waiting to get the recommendation from BIS.
