In a recent interview with Electronics Bazaar, EESL’s Managing Director Saurabh Kumar mentioned that EESL is replacing normal street lights with LED bulbs in different states and Haryana will be the next focus for EESL starting with Gurgaon.

According to a development yesterday, Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon signed a memorandum of understanding with EESL under the street lighting national programme to replace around 50,000 street lights in the city with LED bulbs.
Media report suggests MoU signed under SLNP will allow MCG to save roughly 13 million units of electricity annually. An amount of Rs 330 million will be spent on getting the LED streetlights installed, which will be monitored from a centralised control and monitoring system (CCMS) room, to be set up in the MCG office.
The deadline for replacing the street lights with LED bulbs is January 26, 2018, but V Umashankar, MCG Commissioner is confident of meeting the deadline at the end of this year.
EESL will monitor these street lights 24×7 and any dysfunctional of street light will be repaired within 72 hours. EESL is also launching a mobile app through which anyone can report dysfunctional street lights. This app is expected to launch in the next month.
