Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for setting up of public charging infrastructure. This MoU will work as a part of the National Electric Mobility Programme.
The MoU will last for two years. It aims to synergise business development to set up public charging infrastructure to boost electric mobility in India. The MoU will cover collaboration for planning, development and installation of charging installations at suitable locations. These charging installations will be for two, three, and four-wheeler vehicles.
More visibility of charging infrastructure
Saurabh Kumar, managing director, EESL said, “Increased access to charging infrastructure is vital for the uptake of electric mobility across the entire EV ecosystem of two, three, and four-wheelers. Along with addressing the range anxiety concerns that EV-adopters may have, our partnership with HPCL will also establish more visibility of charging infrastructure, sending a signal to the general public that India’s electric mobility vision is being realised in full potential
Greener and cleaner environment
As per a statement by the companies, the range anxiety of EV owners will reduce with the installation of public charging stations. It will lead to higher adoption of electric mobility. This, in turn, will bring down automobiles emissions and create greener and cleaner environment.
EESL is a joint venture of four National public sector enterprises under the ministry of power, government of India. HPCL is a Maharatna oil and natural gas company.
