Edelweiss Infrastructure Yield Plus Fund is looking to pick up a significant stake in the Engie SA’s Indian solar business. Edelweiss is actively eyeing for opportunities to work in Indian renewable space and a stake in Solairedirect.
Engie is planing to set up 2 GW capacity in India by 2019 and already has 810 MW solar portfolio through Solairedirect. It is also into the wind power generation with a capacity of 280 MW.
Edelweiss is currently looking for opportunity in the highways, renewable and transmission space with a credible revenue counter-party, long residual life and low operating costs.
The Edelweiss group, manages $9-9.5 billion across various funds to invest in equity,distressed credit, real estate, and private equity. Engie has presence in 70 countries owning power, energy, gas and energy services businesses. It is actively working in India for 20 years.
